Poplars Lake is
the first beautiful lake on the Etangs De Breton complex, which is situated
just over an hour away from the busy
ferry port of St Malo..
The
Redmire-sized lake is roughly rectangular in shape and is bordered all around
its perimeter by mature trees and shrubs. Completely fenced and secure, Poplars
Lake and Pond is a tranquil and very private rural retreat, with abundant wildlife,
including ducks and red squirrels.
It is not overlooked by the nearby Birch Lake.
Only three large comfortable swims (capable of dealing with the biggest bivvy!)
about forty yards apart exist on the heavily-wooded fishing bank, although there
is also lots of scope for stalking.
Poplars Lake contains mainly mirror carp to a best so far of 46lb plus but there
are also a few commons into the 30's. There are many 20lb and 30lb plus specimen
carp.
The catfish run to 100lb, and strong tackle is needed to land them. Fifty-pound/sixty
pound catfish are caught regularly.
Many personal best carp and catfish are caught by our clients every year and
many return to fish Poplars year after year.
The
coarse fishing is also excellent, with roach, tench, eels, perch, sturgeon,
American perch and gudgeon.
Poplars parties will also have exclusive access to Poplars Pond just a few yards
from the main lake.
The mobile home on Poplars is just five yards from the water's edge. With mains
electricity, it comprises two bedrooms (one double and twin bunk-type beds,
suitable for children), a separate bathroom with hot water shower, flush toilet
and washbasin, it also features a kitchen area with cooker, dining area, and
a lounge with TV/DVD, CD/tape player etc.
Just outside is a very sunny barbecue area overlooking the shallows and lily
pads, with garden furniture and a barbecue. A bait/food freezer is provided
and there is ample storage for tackle.
Parking is nearby the mobile home.
