This totally private and very beautiful two acre lake is our new venue for 2008.
The
lake has been designed for those who don’t want to have to work too
hard to catch plenty of fish! A real runs water, it is heavily stocked with
carp - mirrors, leathers and commons - with the best at the moment around
35lb, with many twenty-pound plus fish. There is a good head of Wels’
catfish to around 40lbs, with double figure sturgeon, roach and the odd perch
completing the stock.
There
are two large permanent double swims for two carp anglers to fish close together
on the dam wall, and lots of scope for stalking around the rest of the lake.
Only two carp anglers are allowed to fish, so as not to pressurise the fish
too much. The perimeter of the lake is surrounded by grassy banks, overhanging
trees and shrubs. There is a reed iris island, plus beds of lily pads and
soft weed dotted here and there. Resident wildlife includes red squirrels,
kingfishers and many species of songbirds. The lake has its own orchard beyond
the shallows, hence its name.
The accommodation
is just a few yards from the double swim, and consists of a small log cabin
which overlooks the lake with one en-suite bedroom. The cabin consists of
a very comfortable main living area with kitchen, double bed settee, mains
electricity, gas cooker, microwave, TV/DVD, hot and cold water, sink, dining
table and chairs, fridge/freezer, storage cupboards. The bedroom - which has
a separate entrance - has two single beds, wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom,
with a hot water shower, English toilet and small sink.
There is a gravel patio surrounding the cabin with a barbecue and garden furniture.
The cabin is suitable for two anglers, a couple or a small family. It is not
suitable for larger parties. Parking is right by the cabin.
Like all our
lakes a small one-man boat is provided for baiting up and placing rigs, and
large unhooking mats are also provided, both at no extra cost
This is a truly stunning venue at a very reasonable price.
