Each party has TWO lakes to themselves!
Eagle Lake and Peter’s Pool are classed as a single venue on the Etangs
De Breton fishing complex, which means that each party – of up to four
anglers - gets exclusive use of the two lakes and grounds.
Set
in magnificent rolling French countryside the two lakes lie back to back separated
only by a few yards making it ideal for a social bivvy-based holiday. This
is a very tranquil and rural site, with abundant wildlife and spectacular
countryside views - and yet you are only five minutes drive away from the
local village with its shops and bars.
Eagle Lake is the larger of the two lakes, and Redmire-sized, it is rush-lined
all around its perimeter. Central feature is an island, and a reed bar, and
the pretty lake is dotted here and there with soft weeds, marginal shrubs
and beds of pads. The lake contains many 20lb and 30lb carp to a best of around
40lb. There are around 30 Wels’ catfish to 45lb, plus roach, rudd, perch
and grass carp. Catches in 2007 were excellent, with anglers reporting big
catches of carp and cats, with many personal bests landed. It is called Eagle
Lake because of the birds of prey that often circle overhead! There are two
gravelled swims either side of the island, plus this is a brilliant stalking
lake.
Peter’s Pool is a very pretty small intimate pool which contains many
carp to upper 30’s and the odd catfish. Rush
and
shrub lined and with the odd soft weed bed dotted here and there, it was a
favourite haunt of one of our retired bailiffs hence its name. Multiple bags
of big carp were the norm last season, with many personal bests landed. There
are two main gravelled swims.
The facilities
on site are excellent for the bivvy angler. There is a small modern chalet,
containing a hot shower, English toilet, electric lighting,fridge/freezer,
mains electricity for charging phones/bait boats, barbecue and furniture,
double burner cooker and a microwave oven, with cooking utensils, crockery,
cutlery etc, supplied. A small one-man boat is provided for baiting-up or
placing rigs.
Eagle and
Peter’s has its own private entrance and its own car park which is just
a short walk to the lakes.
